Leopard escaped from the custody of forest department in Udaipur today, The search has begun

24 news update. On Monday afternoon, the leopard was caught in a cage in Lakhawali village, near Udaipur. The leopard had previously been taken to Sajjangarh Biological Park by the forest department team. The staff became aware of its escape around 8 AM, and a search for the animal has begun again.
The previous night, the leopard had been taken to Sajjangarh Biological Park. The forest department had set up a cage in the hilly area of Lakhawali due to leopard sightings. The leopard entered the cage on Monday afternoon. Around 4 PM, villagers heard the leopard growling and went to the hill, where they found the leopard trapped in the cage. They promptly informed the forest department.
The forest department team arrived from Barodiya forest checkpoint, and by then, another team from Udaipur had also reached. In the evening, they took the leopard to Sajjangarh Biological Park in Udaipur. The leopard was captured in the forest department’s cage on October 21 in the Lakhawali area near the city. Sources say that the leopard was seen in the cage until 11 PM. When staff arrived around 8 AM Tuesday, the leopard was no longer in the cage. Reports suggest that the cage was completely locked, but the leopard managed to break out from the edge. After getting this news, senior forest officials arrived to gather full details of the incident. On October 18, a leopard was shot about 15 kilometers away from where the cage was set up (on the hill of Lakhawali). It is suspected that this could be the same leopard that was responsible for attacking 10 people, but this has yet to be confirmed.
The cage was initially removed and then put back. Mohanlal Dangi, the village head of Lakhawali, stated that there had been continuous leopard movements in the hilly area, prompting the forest department to set a cage up last month. The department had removed the cage due to a lack of leopard activity. The cage was placed again at the villagers’ request. On October 18, a leopard attacked a goat near a pond in Lakhawali during the afternoon. When the villagers made noise, the leopard fled, leaving the goat behind. Subsequently, at the villagers’ insistence, the forest department reinstated the cage on the hill on October 19, where the leopard was captured on October 21.
