24 News Update. Udaipur. Dengue is becoming increasingly dangerous. RAS officer Taru Surana passed away after a month of treatment for dengue. The news of her death this morning shocked everyone and brought a wave of grief. Taru was only 42 years old. When her condition worsened, she was airlifted to Chennai. She succumbed during treatment on Saturday morning. So far, five people have died from dengue in the state. In addition to the deaths on Friday and Saturday, a government doctor, a nursing student, and a businessman have also died. RAS officer Taru Surana lived in the Panchwati area of Udaipur and was currently working as the chief inspector in the Registration and Stamps Department. Taru was the oldest among three siblings. Her younger sister Pooja is a judge in Gujarat, and her brother Shubhav is the youngest. Shubhav mentioned that on September 6, his sister started having a high fever. They treated her at home for four days. When there was no improvement on September 11, she was checked at Geetanjali Hospital in the city. Tests revealed that she had dengue. She was admitted to Geetanjali Hospital on September 13. Shubhav explained that while her platelets didn’t drop with dengue, the fever persisted. When her condition didn’t improve, they contacted doctors from MGM Hospital in Chennai. On September 18, the MGM Hospital team arrived at Geetanjali Hospital, and that same day, she was airlifted to Chennai.
Treatment in Chennai for 17 days
Shubhav said that when the doctors in Chennai started treatment, they noted that it was quite a rare case because platelets typically drop with dengue, but Taru’s weren’t significantly low. She was treated in Chennai for about 17 days. On October 5 (Saturday), she passed away during treatment at 6 a.m. Shubhav mentioned that her body would be flown from Chennai to Ahmedabad at 7 p.m. on Saturday, and then brought to Udaipur via ambulance. Her last rites would be conducted on Sunday. Dr. Sanjay Gandhi, head of cardiac surgery at Geetanjali Hospital in Udaipur, stated that when Taru was brought in, the dengue virus had also affected her heart, making her condition very critical. Their family doctor from the U.S. also came to assist and stayed with them in the ICU. The Chennai team visited and stayed for 24 hours. Once her condition stabilized, she was airlifted from there.

She had served as the assistant collector in Rajsamand, SDM in Aamet Rajsamand, SDM in Gadhi Banswara, SDM in Railmagra Rajsamand, deputy director in the Women and Child Development Department in Udaipur, LAO at UIT Udaipur, senior manager at RSMML Udaipur, and director at TRI Udaipur.
